a 200 foot run of rg8X on 2M would completely eliminate any gains you might
have gotten from putting up the tower.
If it comes down to it, put a 5/8's wave on the side of the house with a 20
foot run and you'll have better success.
I think a 200 foot run of the highest quality coax you can afford is your
best bet. If you plan on running multiple antennas for HF, think about an
remote switch so you don't have to run more expensive runs of coax out to
the tower.
You will have to run a separate run for any VHF/UHF antennas you have,
unless you can somehow figure out a switching scheme in the shack to use a
single coax for everything.
using the minimum possible will give you the absolute minimum results.
If it means saving for another few months, do that so that when you do put
everything up, it will last a while and you won't have to be concerned with
loss or coax going bad down the line.
