The thing that gets me is that the folks at Maxiaids don't have a clue as to 
how to solve the problem.

They say the watch is made for them by some overseas company, and they don't 
know how to help us.

I've been tempted to take the battery out, and see if things somehow re-set 
themselves, but I'm reluctant to do that, since I may damage something 
getting the battery in and out, and our local jeweler won't touch it.

If you want to, just for kicks, give maxi-aids a call.  They need to know 
that more than just I have this problem.
