Man! You did whip that radio!
I typically would get about 100 watts out if I ran maximum smoke out of
it. Noting that Kenwood recommended a plate current of 200 mA, I would
back the gain down to that figure, instead of the 250 mA that I could get
if I wanted to let it all hang out. 200 mA would still deliver about 90
watts out. That tells me that noting the discrepancy in power increase and
current increase, I probably was either throwing a lot away in heat or
starting to cause some non-linear operation, or both. Anyway, I decided
that it wasn't good for the tubes, and ran the radio according to Kenwood's
instructions and it always gave me faithful service.
