Hi Keith & Everyone;
I had a 746 PRO and the overall performance of the transmit and receive
audio were great.
However, the PL tones were not real accessible on two meters without
sighted help.
To select a PL tone you need to use the vfo knob and, it didn't have any
clicks so again, you will need some sighted help.
Also, you cannot directly enter the number of the memory you want to use.
You need to turn another knob. So, you need to set markers so you can count
up and down.
Those are the only two issues as far as accessibility.
Power is another story.
If you have the radio set for 100 watts on HF, when you go to VHF, you need
to turn the power down to 5 watts or, whatever power setting you want to
use.
It does have an optional speech board which you can purchase.
The speech board will read the frequency your on plus and S. meter reading.
However, it will not read the memory number your on or the menu number you
have selected or the PL tone.
It's a challenge but, not as bad as Yaesu.
Hope this helps.
