do you know what format they're using? is it apco25 still with some other
form of incription like provoice or something?
There are only a couple digital incription/digital voice modes that are near
to impossible to decode.
You may have to use a peace of software to assist in the decode though if
your scanner won't support it.
This makes portable listening a bit of a drag.
Provoice is one of the ones that you can't decode yet.
Although, I may be wrong, there might be software out there now that will
decode provoice.
luckily our local police department still uses analogue channels for most of
the major dispatching and tactical....but they also use provoice incription
for any gang or drug work as well as stake outs, surveillance and anything
else they deem unfit for public consumption.
