If I remember, the DG-5 connected to three RCA jacks.  It took the VFO 
frequency, the oscillator for the band, and I guess the oscillator which 
varied with the selection of USB, LSB or CW.
The three were combined to show your operating frequency.

I never had one of those and I wonder if it read correctly when you had 
the RIT turned on.

Are there any talking frequency counters available - new or on the used 
market ?
