you got a "buzzing"
Out of both left and right channels?
Usually a buz indicates a bad ground...try a different set of RCA cables.
Are you sure your not plugging into the phono  input? sometimes that can
cause problems due to the built in preamp...perhaps modern receivers don't
even have phono inputs anymore?
I know this is silly, but are you certain that the jacks are pushed all the
way in making sure the ground sleeve is making solid contact with the RCA
jack?
are you getting audio directly out of the TV itself, or are you getting
audio from the cable box, satelite box, or VCR?
