Chester,

A brace keeps the joint mostly immobile, making walking difficult. It might
not relieve the pain from walking either. I don't know whether flexibility
and manual dexterity are problems for Trisha, but I know I couldn't put on a
knee brace. Depending on the type Trisha needs, they can also seriously
limit clothing options.
