I'm not aware that the 480 can send cw via the serial port. I think you
would need a keying interface that John and I were talking about later in
the thread. One source:

Connecting the interface to the pc and plugging it into the key jack on the
rig will allow keyboard cw. You will of course need software, but most all
logging software, even the free xmlog offer this. Also the free Cwtype
program
With the pc connected to the rig's serial port, you get pc control of the
radio, only limited by what the software allows and how well your screen
reader works with it.
