Hello listers,
Does anyone on this list have any experience with the Vertex VX1210 manpack radio?
From what I read it would seem to have possibilities for a blind ham radio operator.
First, it's not bristling with menus.
Second it can run up to 25 watts.
Third it has a vfo and can be programmed via a computer.
It also can have 500 memory channels.
It can also run usb, lsb cw, am and data modes.
Drawback, the price.
I've checked the net and found a price of just over $1,500.
Then you have to buy accessories for it like the internal autotuner and whip antennas of various sizes.
It doesn't also have all of the bells and whistles of many of the modern rigs such as DSP.
All this, notwithstanding I still plan to investigate more and will wait until Dayton to see if anyone has any deep discounts on this radio.
The frequency coverage is from 1.8 to 30 mhz.
73,
Eric
