Hi everyone;
Thanks for all the input, the good news is I seem to have managed to get the 
thing to work.  I had to go into print setup in acrobat and select openbook. 
Then go back to the menu and hit print.
The bad news is that after scanning the file only a few words were readable 
and the rest was garbage.
If nothing else I know how to try it next time.
