Hi Gary,
Yes, the Onkyo TX-SR805 is a 7.1 channel surround or home theater receiver.
It has 7 130 watt amplifiers that are exceptionally low noise and low
distortion and it does have direct frequency input from the remote. It will
also decode multi-channel audio from a HDMI signal passing through the
receiver. It does have lots of menus, but once you initially set up the
receiver, all of the common functions are available from the remote.

Hi Bob,
Is the Onkyo TX-SR805 a multi channel receiver for surround sound? If so,
is it fairly accessible?
Thanks
Gary

Hi Robert,
I'm glad that your new stereo system is working out for you.
I put out a message about a month ago talking about the Onkyo stereo
receiver that I was planning on buying. After the manual became available,
however, I downgraded my order from the TX-NR905 to the TX-SR805 because the
network connection and HD radio features of the 905 were not accessible.
I now have the TX-SR805 receiver and Onkyo 540 speakers and I am very happy
with them!
