Microphone quality and compression, (punchy sound), hmm! How about
microphone quality, and the type of compression, E.G. a.f. or R.F. Doesn't
the Kenwood TS830S and later rigs have RF compression, which makes the
average RF power output a lot higher, as opposed to audio compression which
does not? Wouldn't that change your microphone's sound a good bit as far as
"punchy" sound, not equalization as such, because that is adjustable, but as
far as "punchy" or the average reading of an S-meter being actually a couple
DB higher using RF compression as compared to AF compression? That's been my
experience with it anyway.
