Hi Matt.

I wouldn't waste your money on an FM only radio for 6 meters unless it is a 
multi-band radio that also covers 2 meters and 70 cm.  You won't find much 
FM activity in most areas.  If you buy a 6 meter radio, get one that is 
capable of SSB operation as most of the 6 meter activity is between 50.1 
and 50.2 MHz, especially when the E-skip is running.  During high sunspot 
years, 6 meters can open up world wide just like 10 meters.  It is really 
kind of a transition band between HF characteristics and VHF 
characteristics, just like 10 meters, except that 10 meters tends to favor 
HF characteristics more, while 6 meters favors VHF characteristics more.

 From a VHF standpoint, it is a nice band in rugged terrain as it is a bit 
more forgiving than 2 meters and a lot more forgiving than 70 cm.  It's too 
bad that TV interference has kept this band from being developed to its 
full potential because it is a band with some really excellent characteristics.
