I wouldn't worry about putting it at the end of the roof.  Give it a try. 
Might really kick but.  Remember, most mobiles are on the rrear bumper, 
same situation as far as the ground goes.  My friend here in VEgas had a 
screwdriver a high siera on his van and he used it on 160..  It really 
worked.  We don't know why, but it even out performed the wire I helped 
him put up.  You just never know.
