Several more pieces of info might help list members give answers.

What BIOS type do you have?
AMI?, Award?, Award-Phoenix, Phoenix, "Large OEM type", "other".
Include version (if you can see/find it.)

Can you get into the BIOS, or are the errors preventing that?

Maybe someone can help with more info, as different companies do things
in very different ways.

Quick "ballpark answer":
Try to set the BIOS to safe defaults if it has that "global" setting. I have MBs
where that will not work, but it can't hurt.

I just came across this problem recently on my WIN98 P233MMX machine.  I made a small change in the BIOS and disabled the power 
management feature.  During bootup a message came up stating "Warning! CMOS configuration values set to defaults".  I hit 
Continue(no other option) and now I get the load error message.  Also, there is a Diskette Drive A error message that comes up 
before the other error message.  I don't know if power management is the culprit or if this is a separate issue.  I tried changing 
both the diskette drive and battery, but have come up empty handed.  Any feedback would be helpful in resolving this problem.
