You can still get a aftermarket version of the TU5 tone encoder board 
too.  It is available from The Piexx Company of Hillsboro, NH.

The model number is the TU5PX but it is a bit pricy.  However, it will 
function from the front panel just as if you had the original TU5 board 
from Kenwood.
