I don't suppose the ps2 plug that is on the programming cable will work?  If
so, do you know what button you have to press after powering up? Also, did
you try the service menu option, and if you did, did it help? Thanks.

the TM V7A's  and some of the radios in that family are known for low audio.
You can turn the microphone up only by going into the service menu which
requires a jumpered ps2 plug and a button press combination at power on.
You'll need sighted assistance since the service menu's don't talk.
Other then that, i had success with expanding the pin hole in front of the
microphone element since it is extremely small and certainly won't let much
audio through it.
I think I also took out one of the two layers of wind screening that are in
there as well.
You really have to close talk that mike, usually anything more then an inch
is too far.
