Lynn and Triston,
Just remember when you head off to the ER. They, the medical staff are
work for hire, they do not own your brain when you walk in the door. You
have a mind God's given you to make sense of the information they give. I
just read an article in the paper about "Getting Into Your Doctors Head"
and how we ought communicate with our doctor or rather they ought
communicate with us and work out the problems together. My wife tried that
a while back and insisted she not need a Strep test because she didn't have
a sore throat, but the insecure or pompous doctor, which happened to be a
lady, and I say that only because I think it was a woman to woman
competition, but finally my wife gave in just to get out of there and etc.
I told her she ought not done that, what she went in for had nothing to do
with potential Strep. But I guess they needed to outfit the yacht that
weekend with fresh bubbly or something so we paid for the test. She also
tried to get her to take the flu shot, which we will never do, at least not
at this stage of life, then the doctor finally said... "Well you are in day
care so you have probably been exposed to the strains here anyway". Why the
heck then did she sit and argue for the flu shot with her. Maybe she needed
some fancy shmancy appetizers to go with the bubbly I don't know.
Nonetheless, they have knowledge which is to be respected but not abused to
bring fear and unnecessary tests or meds.
