I chased those demons for a couple years too <grin>...
Guess, subsititute, subsititute, subsititute.
My resistance was futile, since all the MBs I was swapping parts
around on were eventually proven to be bad...
When the problem either "gets bad enough", or goes away,
you will get your answer... ;-(
"Everything I did" seemed to "help", which was basically "no help" ;-(
It was heat related, but in a VERY critical way.
I changed all the fans, including the NorthBridge one. (40x40x10?)
In my case, it was three bad MBs... I think the MB chipsets went...
(North or South) - (Caps looked fine.)
All problems stopped with the new MBs... (The only thing new.)
I found a distributor with several old models (mine) NEW in stock.
Got me working for at least the next couple years or so, and was pretty cheap.
(I got several 2600+AMD computers working again for $40ea.)
I had loads of problems with "all" my late 2002-early-2003 Soyos.
Mine were Soyo/AMD(CPU)/VIA, so this solution may not "fit" with
your model.
