Martin,  I think Kenwood may make a good general coverage receiver but I
do not know its model number.  

A radio I wish I had been able to get was the ICr7000   (not sure of the
prefix of this model number) which was a general coverage radio for VHF
to above 1 GHz all mode including FSTV.

	Thanks for the great suggestions. It looks like both receivers
are no longer available as new so it's back to the drawing board. I
would only be interested in the used market if I knew the history of the
receiver. I already have a good used HF receiver. There is no big hurry
as long as this one still basically works. I just know the time is near
when one will spend more time trouble-shooting than using and that's the
time to consider a replacement.
