Not many can afford those high end radios like the 7800 or the 950SDX in 
it's late years, they have radios for the markets that sell. Me personally, 
I'll never live to see the day I can afford a top of the line radio and most 
of the hams I know will say the same thing. It's probably not a big deal not 
to have a $5000 or $10000 radio. Very likely, I'll stick with Kenwood for a 
while yet with icom being my second choice, if Kenwood leaves, I'll go to 
icom. I've heard that rumor so long though, I'll believe it if I ever see 
it. They have a ton of loyal customers, I still know more people that use 
mostly kenwoods, and work far more kenwoods than anything else on the 
market.
