Hi,
With Windows XP, the operating system will not perform a scan until you
reboot, and unlike 98SE, I can't remember when I've had a file error that
has been found by scandisk. I do use disk clean and defrag about once a
month and I usually run scandisk a couple of times a year unless my computer
is acting weird in witch case I usually run a virus and spyware checker
first.
I used to worry about all the programs that automatically load at startup,
but I've found that my processor is fast enough now that I can let most
things load and that keeps most of my programs updated.
Where I'm really careful is on what web sites I go to and on emails with
attachments. That's where the bad viruses and spyware are propagated.
