Hi Robert;

What I do is add the same PL tone to both boxes.

When I hear the repeater if the repeater re-transmits the tone then, I just set the radio to decode the tone.

Hope this helps.

  Subject: Adding repeaters

      Still learning. Am adding a few repeaters to my radio for a weekend
  trip. Using the software from Kenwood for the TH-F6A. The repeater list
  shows the PL tones but how do I know what kind to select in the
  Tone/CTCSS/DCS box? What else do I need to take care of while adding the
  repeaters?  Thanks.
