Ruth,
1963, but now that I see David's e-mail, the marble is indeed from the Danby
Four Corners region. Growing up we used to swim at the Dorsett Quarries.
Best,
Leland

How long ago? I don't think there are any marble quarries in Grafton, nor
any quarries. There used to be granite quarries in West Dummerston but
that was way long ago, before I was born. I think some Dummerston granite
was used to build some building in Washington, DC. Ruth

What about Vermont Marble. SOM used it on the Bieneke Library at Yale,
after a world search. I think it was quarried in Grafton, but you can
contact the Vermont Structural Slate Co.
