I have celiac disease and have been on a GF diet for many years. My daughter is 6, and she eats what she wants for the most part (when she is with me she is GF)

I have mentioned testing her for celiac to her pediatrician several times, and he sort of smiles and moves on to the next topic. I am starting to see symptoms in her that are consistent with celiac, have lasted for months, plus I am always going to worry about it because I am her mom. I want to get her tested, and I need it to be official (mainstream medical) or her dad and other people will never accept it (plus legally, it would have to be official). I expect a great deal of resistance.

It seems to me that any first degree relative of a celiac should be tested, but apparently I need some medical literature to back me up. If anyone has articles (or citations) or links for either peer reviewed medical journals or associations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, I would love it if you could share them with me. I am going to approach her pediatrician again and would like to have evidence to back me up.

Alternatively, I live in Albuquerque NM and if anyone can recommend either pediatricians or family practice docs that they have found to be especially proactive when it comes to celiac disease, please share their name with me. In general I really like her pediatrician but I am not married to him.

thanks Sarah

There are only two kinds of people in this world- those who make gross over-generalizations, and those who don't.
