I'm really frustrated here and could use some input. When celiacs go to a doctor how many many are interigated as to wether they really are celiac or not and are asked for proof/confirmation and then if you don't produce it imidiatly get told you don't have celiac/DH? Does everybody have to carry there complete medical records with certified documentation on being diagnosed celiac/DH? A couple of weeks ago I caught the local crud and was having trouble breathing. Couldn't get in to see my PCP, he was out. Was interigated by him when I first saw him over two years ago and had to get University of Chicago to send me an email stating DH was Celiac Disease because even with valid confirmation papers on the DH the PCP was telling me I didn't have Celiac. Thought we had come a long way from there. Anyhow went to see another doctor for the breathing problems, bronchitis and asthmatic. He asked me who was taking care of the asthma and I told him no one was, No one is even though I have a half dozen doctors including an allergist for major allergy problems. He refers me to an asthma specialist. The follwing week I go to see the asthma specialist and he is telling me I don't have DH. I tell him I have confirmation from biopsy at Vanderbilt. I couldn't find the right paper fast enough so he reassured me I didn't have DH associated with Celiac Disease. He then went on to let me know he also didn't believe I had asthma because my lung function was that of a great athlete, even though my peak flow was in the yellow. I follow the GF to a tee and havn't been on Dapsone in years. I swim and walk and work out and have my lung function up. Because I have been proactive I guess I don't have these things. If I was diabetic and was keeping my blood sugar in control I guess I also wouldn't be diabetic. Funny thing is this asthma specialist confirmed I had asthma 15 years ago. It was confirmed several times since then. But he wanted to send me for an asthma challenge anyhow and then asked me how I knew I had bronchitis. I told him I was hacking green chunks and a doctor diagnosed me and he didn't believe that either. Telling him I had DH made me a out and out lier on everything. The following day I found the biopsy confirmation (official) for the DH and brought it to his office with a Patient Bill Of Rihghts I got off a Government site. Threw it at him with the confirmation and told him it was the confirmation he didn't believe I had. I decided to bring a copy of both to the PCP also because I feel he tends to put me off as a nut also. Within a half hour the PCP called me telling me he was offended by my droping of the Patient Bill of Rights. Why would a doctor be offended by getting that? Maybe being from Wisconsin and callous as he told me I over stepped my bounds. I'm not seeing it. Today I got a certified letter from him letting me know he would no longer be my PCP because of my "trust" issues. A "Drastic errossion of my trust". Because I was having so much trouble breathing last week I went in to see him and appologized for offending him. He found my oxygen saturation levels were way down and sent me for ultasound and CT to check for pulminary embolisum. That was negative but he has me refered to a pulmitolagist. Then I get this letter today. Guess he felt he needed to make sure I was going to live so I could get the letter. Whats wrong with this picture.? Why would our having confirmed DH or Celiac so disturb these doctors? I'm just really confussed here.
