I have the Kenwood THK2AT 2 meter hand held in my collection, it's very 
blind friendly. Not overly expensive either. I have the version that runs on 
AA's and got a great deal on it on eBay, but new they're pretty inexpensive 
too, I don't think you could complain about that one.
