I know 2 people that have had that problem with the TS-2000 but once fixed
it was fine after and those are models with in the first couple years they
were out. This is out of more than I can count that have them which is 1
reason I want one is so many happy users. I know probably close to 10 people
with the Icom 746 PRO these days too 100% problem free. They're all less
than a couple years old but used almost daily. There could just be a bad
batch of them around, that happens. These days when companies look for the
cheapest way to do things, they don't always order parts from the same
company, not that we'd see that on the outside, but knowing a lot of people
that work on electronics, you can see all the same parts in a bunch of
units, this goes for any electronics from XRay equipment which 3 of these
guys work on, to hot tubs like another works on, to radio equipment like
another few work on, and when you start digging in to it, you find that the
parts aren't always as similar as they look. Some times they'll get them
from another country because they're cheaper, but it's not the usual place
they were getting them from and you can get bad batches that way. Everyone
does it now, you can't get away from that unfortunately.
