I don't see how AVG could possibly be doing that. More likely it's an OE 
corruption of some sort, possibly an unfortunate result of your crash.

Try disabling the AVG email scanner---your ISP should be protecting you 
with virus filters in any case.  Meantime, just be careful about opening 
any attachments.

If the problem continues, at least that will confirm it's not an AVG 
problem.  It's not one I've ever heard of with AVG.
