I agree with you, I like my cell phone for emergencies, to make and get 
calls, beyond that I couldn't care less what it does. In fact, unlike a lot 
of people I've known, I don't even like talking on any phone. I only have my 
private line in the house because I'm involved in so much local volunteer 
stuff and don't want to give my cell or family's number out. I'm still 
thinking about getting rid of that line though. It's more of an annoyance 
than anything else more often than not.
