Tom,

That feature works on most Kenwood radios.  The only time you may have 
trouble is if the repeater doesn't broadcast the tone, or if it uses a 
different tone on the input and output.  In those cases, you can get the 
tone from the input frequency if there's a nearby station using the 
repeater.
