It doesn't look like I can find the Diamond antenna in the US. At least not
on line anyway.

That radio has an SMA connector on it. You can get adapters from other
connectors, but SMA connectors are so flimsy, I'd strongly advise, for what
you're doing, look for like a diamond NR77 or similar inexpensive mag mount
with an SMA connector.
