Hi Mark.

Do you hear other Windows sounds when your screen reader is running? I
wonder if it could be something as simple as the screen reader isn't
releasing the sound card for other applications to access it? This was a
common problem for older on-board sound and lower cost sound cards,
especially the old 16 and 32 bit cards. Multi-channel cards don't do
this. In JAWS, under synthesizer options in the Configuration manager,
there is a checkbox that allows JAWS to share the card with other wave
applications, but I can't think of anything like that with
Window-Eyes. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've ever run into the
problem with Window-Eyes, so maybe it isn't a problem with that screen reader.
