This is not a good rf ground. It's possible that all the pipes in your
house are acting as an antenna. It would be a lot better to run a ground
wire to a ground rod outside your shack.
here are some questions that can help the group help you:
What bands?
How much power? Are you running that amp?
Where is your shack? Basement? Third floor? How close to the outside?
You can try a counterpoise wire. 234/freq in mhz. Attach 1 end to the
ground screw on the rig and stretch the wire out along a wall. Maybe not
a good idea for high power. Put a piece of tape on the other end of the
wire since it will be hot with rf, even at 100 watts.
