I heard just the opposite.  His wife no longer wanted to stay with him if he
stayed in the ministry and that the story told about his secretary was a lie
cooked up by one of his best friends.  I heard Malcolm Smith tell the story
on a tape I have as he taught on the subject of forgiveness.
