You are   in most cases correct.  The operators of repeaters that really 
care about what their repeater sounds like does a good job.  And there are 
more and more that are
cleaning up the audio and getting ID's off of the system.  Or at least the 
ones that are connecting to me are doing better.  ----- Original

Ahem. Second-best. IRLP is more reliable, running under GNU/Linux by
default, with very tight technical standards to help ensure both
security and good sound without too many unnecessary things (ID's,
hang timers, pulsebacks) bleeding through. Echolink has no such peer
regulation.
