Hello List friends,

I want to tell you about a neat experience we just had in meeting the young man who is hiking the length of the Appalachian Trail and raising awareness and funds for Celiac research at the same time! Gordon Jenkins, AKA the Breadless Horseman, began his adventure in Georgia, and is now starting his 300 mile pass through Pennsylvania. He will continue north through NY, NJ, and New England to Maine. If there are any other celiac support groups near the Trail - or not! - you might consider offering your support. Here's some possibilities:
                 1) offer to be a mail drop (his folks sent some comfy old boots here for him to avoid
blisters and Foods By George sent GF pizzas and crumb cake which Gordon
about inhaled, they were so good!)
                 2) solicit gifts of GF foods (our local health food store, The Rose Garden in Gettysburg
donated a $20 gift certificate for him to stock up)
                 3) offer hospitality if he has time to take advantage of a shower, clean bed, do laundry, etc!
By all means, please consider making a donation - of any size - in his name to the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia http://www.celiacdiseasecenter.columbia.edu/CF-HOME.htm for a cause that benefits ALL of us!

You can read about Gordon's adventure on his blog at http://gmjhiker.blogspot.com/

Warmly,
Cheryl Hutchinson
