A new study published on Gut Online demonstrates the effectiveness
of a PEP enzyme to breakdown gluten to safe levels in simulated
human gastrointestinal tract experiments and concludes "co-
administration of AN-PEP with a gluten containing meal might eliminate
gluten toxicity, thus offering patients the possibility to (occasionally)
abandon their strict gluten free diet." The "pill" therefore only
promises to be a limited license to indulge. IL-10 probiotic therapy
looks more promising with continuous long-term and lasting
suppression of gluten response.
