I think as of this morning, Kerry was asked to apologize and refused. The
reason being that what he says has an ounce of truth. The folks mainly
joining the services aren't college educated people or people who can afford
to go college. They are folks who can't afford to go to college, are
joining to get money for college, or are poor and need a job. More and
more, people like most of my family, who would go to work at a factory for a
living wage are being pushed out of the job market. Many folks join the
service for an opportunity to get educated in something.
There needs to be a draft because of the huge recruiting short falls, and
huge need thanks to the war on terror but,unfortunately, as the present
administration knows, it would be considered political suicide.
So, while it may sound insulting and politically motivating, the comment is
true. Get an education or your choices for a career are slim....
