Harvey,

Check to see if your antivirus software has opened a window somewhere.  I'm 
not familiar with that program specifically, but I've seen Norton open 
windows and take charge of your display until you do whatever it wants you 
to do.  I even had Windows Media Player do something funky on me today.  It 
opened up some weird window that wasn't visible as a program in the taskbar, 
but it made most of my system tray entries disappear (including Jaws, which 
was still running).  I got rid of it by restarting the machine, but I still 
don't quite know what it did, or why.
