Yes, it uses the vs 3 and it cost $39.95.  It sure is a tiny little thing. 
I had to get sighted help to put it in.  Guess my ft fingers are too 
clutsy.  I also just picked up a used one and bought the chip at a e s 
here in town last Tuesday.  I have the computer cable for mine, so it 
makes programming and or cloning a snap.
