Most of his later life was spent in Venezuela.

I worked him once when in the U.K. and a couple of times in Y V.

I can't recall when he died precisely, but I could look in the F O C
archives - it must have been about 6-7 years ago.

He lived about 30 miles from me, and Les Moxon lived only 6 miles from here.

Oh sure, the G5RV I think was first published after WW2...for some
reason, 1947 comes to mind. 

I actually heard G5RV in 1995 when visiting Germany. Unfortunately, I
didn't have a transmitter just then, so couldn't Q with him, but he
was on 40 meter cw, using (surprisingly) a G5RV.
