I think whatever works. I know at one time there were indoor antennas by
MFJ and B and W, Mobile antennas are often used indoors. You would just
need to provide a counterpoise to take the place of the non existant car.
Dipoles for the higher bands are short enough to fit, maybe with a little
bending. There are multiband shortened dipoles sold for attic use.
W9INN (now sk) made one and I think HY Power antennas sells one.

Ham Sticks are also used, sometimes doubled up to make a dipole.

When I first moved to this QTH 9 years ago, before getting anything up
outside, I ran the driven element of a TA 33 in the attic of this ranch
house. Not very high, and with rain gutters and house wiring maybe not so
great a setup, but worked a lot of stations including DX till I got things
set up outside.
I still run a Elk log periodic for 2 an 432 ssb in the attic.
