I had a guy tell me one time that he wasn't interested in ham radio because
all they ever did was talk about ham radio. I couldn't figure out what he
was talking about. Even back then, this was in 1972, the people I talked
with discussed everything under the sun. I cannot recall the last time I
talked about a ham radio topic specifically on, for example, the local
repeater I hang out on. Shoot, we talk about when we got our vasectomy,
where we are going out to eat next weekend, income taxes, politics, crime,
local and national issues, computers, lots of computer stuff, almost more
than ham radio itself as a matter of fact, news, remodeling projects on the
house, and you name it, we talk about it. Once and awhile, some knucklehead
goes out and buys a new radio and he'll tell us about it, for a couple of
days and that's it. Man, you start talking about ham radio on ham radio any
more and somebody is going to jump down your throat. And for Heaven sake,
don't start using those dam q signals. Oh, yes. We also discuss the
weather but this topic is generally reserved for the older hams, like me,
for example. The younger hams don't seem to care about the weather.
