Try this,
 From the run line, type the following without the quotes
"sfc /scannow"
If missing or broken windows files are found, you will be asked to 
insert your windows XP Pro cd.
Do so but hold down the left shift key to prevent the autorun 
feature.  If you get the windows install dialog, just press alt-f4 to 
close that process.
