Many of us have told our stories about living with CP to dozens if not
hundreds of people--doctors, rehab specialists, therapists, vocational
counselors, friends, lovers, family. Often we tell our stories to one
another at conferences like this one. BUT not enough of us have written our
stories-there are not enough articles and books written by people with CP
to educate the world about our experiences-or to help younger people with
CP grow up strong and proud. The CP Group is aware of one book publisher
and two magazine editors who are looking for manuscripts by adults with CP.
This workshop is designed to encourage more of us to write about our lives-
and to share what we have written. So, we invite you to write a brief essay
or poem about your life to read at this session. Or read something you've
already written-and maybe even published. We're hoping for lots of readers,
so plan to read for about 6-7 minutes-which means no more than about 500
words. Happy writing!
