HI! I just buyed a new NetGear FVS318 router on Ebay and find it hard to use using the netgear's instructions.

First it took me awhile to make ir work. It appear that their's instructions are not accurate.

The instruction order they said to follow were :

1. Boot the Modem and let it run for 2 minutes
2. Boot the Router
3. Boot the computer.

It finaly get it to work just reseting the router. I mean power it off and the power it on. Each time i boot a new computer I must also reboot the router. Lastly the home power was lost, so I have to reboot the modem, reboot the computer and then reboot the router. Does this behavior is normal? Is this a router default? Is there a work aroun it?

DSL Modem : (SpeedStream 5200),
Internet provider : Sympatico,
Router : NetGear FVS318v3.0 Firmware Version v3.0_24

My Main computer is a Compaq P III 1000Mh, 512 Meg Ram, 20Gig HD, Windows 2000.
second one is a PIII 500 Mh, 512 Meg Ram, 20Gib Hd, Windows Xp.

Should it work better under Linux?

Best regards
Thanks
