your carrier point adjustment must have been a little wacky, since the
carrier level can adjust output power on ssb if the carrier point is not
quite perfect....nothing to be concerned about but,  it will show up on the
meter.
I remember old SSB C B's that had been screw drivered to death putting out
like 10 watts dead key on the ssb setting and 5 watts on am dead key, that
is when carrier point is way way out of wack.
