Phil, this is a beautiful, yet sad story, and I praise the Lord with
you that you can now look back and see that Jesus was there all the
while. When you said this at the end of your message; " Is Jesus
there for you? Does He stand in the places that hurt or that are
fearful or that are sad?" My immediate response was "Yes, Jesus does
stand in all the places of hurt and sadness in my life, and He is in
the process of renewing my mind in some areas where the hurts are
most recent. For example, my sister is in a nursing home for
Alzheimer patients, not knowing her family, and doesn't seem to even
remember the Lord Jesus she loves so dearly. Today is her birthday,
and I wept quietly as I thought of her and the years of our childhood
and later, and how I have missed her so much. I knew she wouldn't
even realize who I was, but I phoned her anyway, and talked of names,
places, and events from our happy years, hoping she would remember
me. She didn't need my phone call to wish her a happy birthday, but
I needed it........I needed to tell her I love her and miss her.
And Jesus was right here with me, and with her, reminding me of
something I wrote to my cousin recently: My total dependence on the
Grace of God is my spiritual and emotional strength, and that is what
makes my life worth living. My inner Life is bound up with His by
His Spirit, and I trust Him that whatever has been and what will be,
is in His will for me, and He wills nothing for me except what is for
my benefit. It may not look like it to the natural eye right now,
but I know that it is Truth! And this I know for my dear sister as well.
Where she is has been ordained by God, and He has willed nothing for
her except what is for her benefit. And I praise Him that He is here
even now as the tears drop onto the keyboard.........yes, He is here
standing in the place that hurts and is so sad.

In His Love,
Helen
